Antek came from a small town near Vilnius and he went
to secondary school in Vilnius. He was a humanist who loved literature, who loved to sing, to tell stories, and who was fascinated both by the Polish and Yiddish literature. His idol
in Polish literature was Swovatski, a romantic. He knew all his writings by heart. He had a fascination for Polish romanticism. And that had an enormous influence on his behavior. He was
a romantic. He was a good story-teller and particularly good
at reciting poetry. Jewish poets: he recited Peretz. Polish poets:
he recited Swovatski. And during the nights when the situation was so terrible, he recited poems.
His romanticism formed his personality. But he knew the limits
for not sacrificing people. His main goal was to safeguard the lives of people.
